Does FreshGreen provide turf with PU backing?

Yes. Taishan Sports is the first manufacturer in China to produce artificial turf with PU backing which is used for all landscaping projects and sports fields.

Although customers can still request latex backing compounds, PU backing is gaining popularity for its outstanding properties and exceptional resistance to weathering and chemical attack. Both backing lines meet the requirements of all world markets.

What is your turf warranty and what is the life expectancy for FreshGreen Turf?

Our turf comes with an industry-standard 8 years warranty but the actual life expectancy is 15-25 years depending on use.

Why do some suppliers provide 12-15 years warranty?

These are usually intermediary companies (not the manufacturer) who want to make a fast sale. Although the yarn may last as long as 12-15 years, it is impossible to provide a warranty for that long. This is a misleading and irresponsible promise. We would advise customers to be cautious with such companies and to research about their background and credentials.

How fast can you ship out the turf & how long does shipping take?

Our turf is located at our warehouse in Southern California. All orders are shipped within 2-3 days from the time we receive the order. Shipping takes anywhere between 1-6 business days to deliver, depending on location.

Do you ship to a residential address?

Yes. However, customers need to make sure that the unloading is done within one hour or else charges apply. Turf rolls are also very heavy so you need to be capable of handling the unloading procedure.

I live close to the warehouse, can I pick up the turf myself?

Yes you can, as long as you have a truck that can fit a roll that is 15′wide and weighs anywhere from 700 to 900 pounds. Please be prepared and have someone to help you in the uploading of the roll onto your truck.

What is the installation procedure?

We usually sell to landscapers only. If you are an end customer, we recommend you choose a licensed and qualified artificial turf installer/landscaper do the job. Failing to install properly can void the warranty. Please  email us for a self-install guide.  Below is a link to Irvine Ranch Water District whose web site has a brief illustration on artificial turf installation:

How much water can I save with synthetic turf and how does the turf drain?

A typical residence (with about 750 square feet of turf) can conserve approximately 22,000 gallons of water per year. This  fact is taken from Irvine Ranch Water District. An average residence can easily cut water usage by over 60%. The turf comes with drainage holes that will allow the water to drain directly into the ground below the turf.

Do I still need to maintain the turf after installation?

No real maintenance is required after installation. An occasional brooming is recommend to help keep the fibers standing up. If you need to clean the turf, then simply hose off and let dry.

Is your turf pet friendly? Is Nylon turf good?

Yes. Our turfs are strong enough to withhold the normal wear and tear from pets, and will not fade from pets’ urine. All of our turfs use either polyethylene or polypropylene yarns which resist moisture.  While any nylon made turf will absorb moisture because of its open cell structure, you will however have issues if you have pets.  To clean, just hose down once a month.  If you do it more often the turf can be worn down.

If someone throws a cigarette on the turf, will it catch fire?

No. It will not catch fire.  All our turf passed the flammability test that all carpets must comply with as well.

What is the difference between buying turf Made-in-USA and turf Made-in-China?

The difference is huge.  For big players who buy and install millions of sq ft from the manufacturer, the difference is around 30% in cost.  Yes, the turf made in China is usually 30% cheaper.  For smaller buyers like average landscapers or end users, the difference will be $1.5/sq ft versus paying $3/sq ft.  You are paying double for the same quality turf.  Why is there such a big difference in costs?

US turf manufacturers are all located in Dalton, Georgia a town that has a population of 30,000 people.  A handful of manufacturers (six), have been bought out and consolidated by the wealthiest family over the years, which resulted in a monopoly market.  While all the other industries have seen pricing go down over the years due to production efficiency and technology improvement, turfs from Dalton on average have witnessed price increases over the past decade. This makes it harder for average landscapers to make profits or increase their sales as the turf becomes too expensive for home owners.  The other reason for their high prices is their extensive Branding and Marketing expenses which will be reflected in the pricing.

On the other hand, turf manufacturers in Asia, especially in China, have experienced strong competition from over 20 local manufacturers. This pushes them to keep innovating, reducing their operating costs, and making very thin profit margins in order to capture market share.  Low labor and living costs, and the exchange rate between RMB and US Dollar which is around 7.5 all contribute to the lower turf prices. Turf manufacturers are spread out all over China from Beijing in the North to Guangzhou in the South.  Strong competition is favorable for consumers as they will benefit from lower prices.

I know a USA branded turf that is made in China, should I buy from them?

Do a thorough research to ensure the company is capable of providing you with high quality turf with an 8 years warranty. Chances are there will be huge mark up, and you will not get any cost savings.  Research pays.
