Equipment & Plant
Our factory consists of three major plants; each with world-leading, state of art machinery for yarn extrusion, tufting and coating procedures. Taishan is the only manufacturer in China that is fully integrated, combining production, installation and services all in one.
Taishan’s commitment to producing only the best products is apparent through its continuous investments in purchasing advanced equipment and machinery from the United States. The total amount of investment in these plants resulted in $12 million US dollars up until 2007.
Despite the fact that we have the best equipment and technology, our plant operating costs are extremely low compared to our competitors mainly due to our lean manufacturing management and low labor costs.
Tufting
The four tufting machines are distinctively designed by the world’s leading vendor for the fabrication of artificial grass. The accessories, and features incorporated in these machines can reset any of these functions on the fly. This capability is inherent in the configuration of a 4 axis servo control.
Servo control/drive cloth feed, yarn feed, jute shifter, and sliding needle bar, allows accurate control over these functions, thus provides optimum levels of quality and efficiency.
With traditional tufting machines the backing cloth continues to advance at a constant speed even when the needles are still in the cloth. This causes loose and uneven tufting and is particularly problematic with high pile grass and long needles. With Taishan’s tufting equipment, the staged or intermittent cloth feed advances the cloth only when the needles are retracted from the cloth. This allows minimum distortion of the backing cloth, thus producing even and smooth tufting.
Back Coating
Our backing line is designed by one of the industry’s leading vendors that manufacture backing at the highest level. Taishan offers both latex and polyurethane (PU) backing compounds that meet the requirements of all world markets.
To insure proper alignment, and tension of the goods as they are put through the line, the Taishan back coating equipment incorporates electro-optical scanning devices, controlling automated steering, and tensioning units.
The Taishan line has numerous quality enhancing features which can be seen at no other plant in the world. One example is the innovative drainage hole punch. The unit travels along with the goods as they advance. The result is a clean circular hole with no water retaining lip on either the tuft, or stitch side. Superior drainage adds life to artificial grass.
Another innovation is Taishan’s use of infra-red heaters. Prior to the goods entering the curing oven, they pass under infra-red heaters, which allows the backing compound to cure in a manner giving it the optimum characteristics for tuft anchorage, and durability in all weather conditions.
Production Management
Our turf production is headed by a prominent veteran who has worked in the artificial turf industry since 1972. He has worked with four out of six turf manufacturers in the US during his career. He brought us wealth of knowledge in the turf production, new product development, quality assurance and installation.
