Earth Day is April 22nd 2010!
According to Earthday.org, forty years after the first Earth Day, the world is in greater peril than ever. While climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents the greatest opportunity – an unprecedented opportunity to build a healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy now and for the future. Earth Day 2010 can be a turning point to advance climate policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs.
Earth Day taps into real daily issues such as climate change, energy, sustainable environment and also water. Below is a list of campaigns & events that Earth Day is organizing to help tackle the Water issue:
- A Walk for Life: Objective is to raise $50,000 to complete water facilities for 25,000 people and animals for the next 50-100 years
- Cane Creek Cleanup: Objective is to clean up the Catawba River and Cane Creek starting at the Hwy 9 Landing boat ramp near Lancaster, SC and extending into Cane Creek
- Clean Water for Everyone: Objective is to provide citizens around the world with clean water and encourage countries to establish rules and regulations for water distribution
